Derived from 19th Century Whiskey Poker by those looking for a quicker game, Gin Rummy (as recognised today) came into being just over a century ago.

It is a game for two players with the aim of collecting "sets" (3 or more cards of the same rank) and "runs" (3 or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order) and being the first to "knock" (hold cards worth 10 points or less outside of sets and runs and choose to end the hand).

Gin Rummy Free app for Android phones was released on Google Play in 2012. Providing 15 AI opponents covering play from beginner to expert, Gin Rummy also has various game options and all the usual features including hint, undo and stats recording.
